Anchor Cheesy Fried  Nian Gao

  • 5 slices yam
  • 5 slices sweet potato (orange)
  • 5 slices nian gao
  • 5 slices Anchor Cheddar Cheese Slice, each cut into 4 squares
  • Oil for deep frying

       Batter mixture

  • 60 g plain flour
  • 20 g rice flour
  • 30 g cornflour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 130 ml water


  1. To assemble the cheesy fried niangao, sandwich a slice of niangao and 4 squares of Anchor Cheddar Cheese Slice between a slice of yam and a slice of sweet potato. Repeat with the remaining niangao, cheese, yam and sweet potato.
  2. Heat up oil in a pot for deep frying.
  3. In a bowl, combine all the batter ingredients together. Mix well.
  4. Dip the sandwich into the batter, making sure to coat it evenly.
  5. Deep fry the cheesy niangao sandwiches until golden brown in colour.
  6. Serve hot.
